I would like to start this off with a small personal story. It was 2014 when I was transferred to the Negeri Sembilan state to take care of a branch business there. That was the first time I drove myself in to this small town of Port Dickson and searching for a local church for mass. Well, a little less than 2 years, I've got transferred again to another place and seldom come back to this place.
The church building was designed and construct kn the 1970s, therefore you will find the premises do not look like classic old church. Somehow, 50 years is long time ago, the church building doesn't look modern as well.
One thing i paid a lot of attention in these kind of retro buildings are the roof support. You can clearly see the supporting columns across the roof, but you don't see beams extending to the floor.
The retrofitted stained glass being fitted on the sqaurish windows does not really justify the arts
But hey, that's what the church gotta do. It is my own opinion that i think its better to just keep ghe windows clear or totally tint them instead. To me, stained glass is the fine art that requires a special "windowed" column on the wall. Perhaps they can punch some holes at the altar and install the stained glass there?
Port side of the church connect to the community activity space. The church is very near to the beach, therefore the humid and hot temperature is cooking during the day, and total lack of wind at night can make the pew feels like a frying pan. Extended long ceiling fan is one of many modern technology that is facing extinction, but remain extremely useful and cost effective cooling equipment.
Ok i am not a copyright expert, but copying IP material can be an offense. Neither am i an expert in church related IP royalty. Its been years since I've last seen this kind of binded copies of SYPG in church. I am not saying right or wrong, but the paper smell and the book rack really brings back the retro feel for the entire visitation. 7 digit phone number... Kuala Lumpur... Mind blowing.
More art pieces at the stern. Confession rooms is at right corner, but i dont think anyone prefer to confess at this hour. The room is in boiling temperature. The left side is the AV room.
More pictures of the statues of Mary and Jesus.
Wall plaque that reminds us, we Malaysian used to be united. Muslim senator that officiate the commissioning of a Catholic church.
Road to the church was once the most important coastal road where the Shell pipeline is still located along this road.
There is a huge hotel right opposite of the church. The faded Costa Rica wordinf was there for decades, but i think it will be slowly refurbished and removing the building name entirely very soon. A new management is kicking in speed to revive this long abandoned business.
Last but not least, here i am standing at the main entrance, with my shadow counting blessing and good grace from God. I am glad that i took the challenge back in 2014 and having to revisit this place again in 2025, i just cant thank enough that the amount of blessing i had over these years.
