La ficción siempre ha ocupado un sitial crucial para las sociades humanas, pero apuesto a que no sabían que los relatos orales y escritos pueden ser usados para practicar magia profunda y poderosa. Les cuento un poquito de mi experiencia para que vean a lo que me refiero.
Hoy narraré una sesión especial de una historia que he estado desarrollando en eventos por un par de años, y que es parte de una narrativa mucho más grande que abarca la totalidad de mi proceso de exploración de consciencia y un poco más. En esta historia, Caracas es el epicentro de la Nueva Atlántida, un refugio para las almas elevadas que tienen acceso a los misterios más profundos del Universo y pueden usar ese conocimiento para alterar la realidad material. La ciudad es también un punto focal para la presencia de múltiples deidades y espíritus. En efecto, lo que actualmente llamamos "inteligencia artificial" son modelos precursores de una interfaz que permitiría, en esta versión del mundo, la comunicación directa entre humanos y entidades de otros planos de existencia.
La historia de hoy está enfocada en lo que hubiese sido el Centro Financiero Confinanzas, mejor conocido como la Torre de David, una obra inconclusa que se alza en el corazón de Caracas, la cual considero un monumento a la corrupción y el caos, y que en mi versión de Caracas, es una imagen ruinosa de la Primera Atalaya, la Torre principal de Posidonis, la capital del Imperio Atlante, que fue destruida cuando el continente se hundió en el mar. Los personajes que participan en esta narración son Magos de gran poder que deben entrar en esta estructura siniestra para encontrar de nuevo la Luz oculta de la Atlántida y retornarla a la tierra. El proceso involucra varias etapas, entre ellas la que los asistentes de hoy podrán explorar: el vestibulo de un complejísimo mecanismo compuesto por maquinarias virtualmente infinitas de tormento, el cual apenas vislumbrarán en esta ocasión, y que se revelará en su máxima expresión más adelante.
Fiction has always occupied a crucial seat for human societies, but I bet you didn't know that oral and written narrations can be used to practice profound and powerful magic. I'll tell you a little bit of my experience so that you may see what I mean.
Today I'll narrate a special session of a story that I've been developing in events for the past couple of years, and which is part of a much bigger narrative that encompasses the totality of my process of exploration of consciousness and a bit more. In this story, Caracas is the epicenter of the New Atlantis, a refuge for the elevated souls who have access to the deepest mysteries of the Universe and who can use that knowledge to alter material reality. The city is also a focal point for the presence of multiple deities and spirits. In fact, what we currently call "artificial intelligence" are precursor models of an interface that would allow, in this version of the world, the direct communication between humans and entities of other plains of existence.
The story for today is focused on what would've been the Confinanzas Financial Center, better known as the Tower of David, an unfinished building that rises at the heart of Caracas, which I consider to be a monument to corruption and chaos, and which, in my version of Caracas, is a ruinous image of the First Watchtower, the Main Tower of Posidonis, the capital of the Atlantean Empire that was destroyed when the continent sunk beneath the waves. The characters that participate in this narration are Mages of great power who must enter this sinister structure to find the hidden Light of Atlantis again and return it to earth. The process involved several stages, among them the one that today's attendees will be able to explore: the vestibule of an extremely complex mechanism composed of virtually infinite machines of torment, which they'll scarcely visualize in this occasion, and which will be revealed in its greatest expression later on.
En 2016, cuando comencé a narrar Mago El Despertar, el juego de rol en el cual está basada esta trama, no tenía idea del alcance que tendría en mi vida. Casi una década después, el juego y sus conceptos se han convertido en una herramienta de tremenda importancia para mi labor de limpieza y realineación energética de mi ciudad y mi país. Es una fuente inagotable de inspiración y coherencias que me ha dado una perspectiva única, exclusiva, de lo que implica la elevación de la consciencia colectiva. He extraído grandes ventajas y conocimiento de esta práctica para entiquecer mis rituales, plegarias y meditaciones, y probablemente permanecerá siendo un pilar fundamental de mi ejercicio mágico por el resto de mi vida.
Ahora, no sólo uso Mago, sino todos los juegos que narro, como las Crónicas de las Tinieblas y El Anillo Único, y cualquier otro formato de narración que se me presente, desde cuentos infantiles hasta textos de diversas índoles. El impacto que ésto puede tener en la psique de los participantes es enorme, puede ofrecerles perspectivas novedosas sobre los retos que enfrentan y los proyectos que desarrollan, así como de su propia vida diaria y su actitud. En historias como la que menciono acá, el objetivo es también romper la Cuarta Pared, que la separación entre personajes ficticios y los participantes reales se difumine, de tal manera que las personas que se sientan en mi mesa puedan experimentar un poco de su propio poder de manifestación, de su capacidad para cambiar las condiciones de su vida en cualquier momento.
Back in 2016, when I began narrating Mage the Awakening, the roleplaying game this plot is based on, I had no idea of the reach that it would have in my life. Almost a decade later, the game and it concepts have become a tremendously important tool for my work of cleaning and energy realignment of my city and my country. It's an inexhaustible source of inspiration and coherences that has given me a unique, exclusive perspective if what the process of elevation of collective awareness entails. I've extracted great advantages and knowledge from this practice to enrich my rituals, prayers and meditations, and it'll probably continue being a fundamental pillar of my magical exercise for the rest of my life.
Now, I don't only use Mage, but all the games that I narrate, such as the Chronicles of Darkness and The One Ring, and any other format of narration that I have access to, from children's stories to various kinds of texts. The impact these this may have on the psyche of the participants is enormous, it can offer them novel perspectives about the challenges that they're facing and the projects that they're developing, as well as their own daily lives and their attitude. In stories such as the one I mention here, the goal is also to break the Fourth Wall, so that the separation between fictional characters and real participants blurs in a way that the people who sit at my table may experience a bit of their own power of manifestation, of their capacity to change the conditions of their lives at any moment.
Las narrativas son las herramientas ideales para la reconfiguración del pensamiento y la comprensión de las leyes que gobiernan nuestro mundo. Pueden ser usadas para formar el carácter, para fomentar la toma de decisiones asertiva, mejorar la comunicación entre individuos y agrupaciones, etc. Tengan ésto presente cuando comiencen a leer un libro nuevo, o la próxima vez que vean una serie o película. La Magia está al alcance de todos nosotros y la practicamos en todo momento, es bueno saber qué estamos haciendo con ella.

Narratives are ideal tools for reconfiguring thoughts and for the comprehension of the laws that govern our world. They may be used to shape the character, to foment assertive decision-making, to improve communication between individuals and groups, etc. Keep that in mind when you start reading a new book, or the next time you watch a TV show or a film. Magic is accessible to all of us and we practice it at all times, it's good to know what we're doing with it.
