I have been hosting Hive meetups before now and I hope to continue doing that. Saturday 7th June 2025 was another amazing day in which I hosted our Hive meetup at Happy Customer Supermarket. It was as always an opportunity to meet Hive friends from the city and have some good time with them. It was especially a networking program designed to change mindsets - from just storytellers on Hive to solution builders.
13 friends were present - to build on Hive
I want to thank the friends that attended our meetup especially @beauty197 who came all the way from Lagos. The rest of us from Aba also deserves to be commended. They include the following:
@empressjay, @ngobaby, @nellybestie, @bummblebee, @bakinba, @lutherking, @iamchimary, @luchyl, @blessedglow, @alwaysonyi, @adazion.
Other friends came a little later to see us. The meetup started at my web3 center - Happy Customer Supermarket. As we always did, it was a relaxed atmosphere as all friends present sat around a desk to hear presentations from me and beauty247. I offered each person a bottle water to contribute to the social environment for our business talks. The first presenter helped our friends see the importance of taking up new challenges and not always feeling so comfortable doing same things. The talk was superbly handled by beauty197. At the end of it, everyone that listened learned that we all could do better and never fell fine settling for less.
My own presentation which formed the main theme of the meetup was all about raising builders on Hive. Many users came to Hive because it's a place to share their story and have an audience - and possibly to also earn from good content. While that is largely what everyone is doing, we could change the narrative. So I encouraged the friends to consider building something on Hive that solves a local problem instead of just seeing hive as another social media platform.
I narrowed down the building aspect to building businesses that accept HBD using the distriator web3 app. I actually want to raise the next 100 startups/existing businesses that will actively generate HBD turnover weekly, just as Happy Customer Supermarket is doing. I believe that mass adoption (of Hive and HBD) should start from active businesses that would turn over their customers to Hive. If Happy Customer Supermarket could generate HBD sales in excess of 2000 HBD in 1 month, then 100 businesses replicating the same achievement would be massive.
I encouraged the friends to pioneer the next 100 business builders and also utilize the loan system from @distriator.loans to facilitate their business funding. Everyone that came was happy to join the effort. And I also want to use this opportunity to encourage you my audience to consider accepting HBD in your existing business or doing a startup. I would be happy to share my success secrets with you.
After the presentation, we took group photography. I would like to share a few with you. Take a look at some of them above. So many smilingbfaces if friends that attended our meetup. They all look forward to gatheringbonce again soonest. Rest assured that I will make it happen.
Classic Kitchen for refreshments
After the presentations and photographs, we headed over to one of the businesses that accept HBD in Aba. Classic Kitchen is a cool place to rest and relax. We went there and ate as a group. Their menu included local dishes and intercontinental meals. Some of the friends enjoyed soup while others ordered rice. The most interesting aspect is that we all were able to pay with HBD and claim our discounts. We also took more photos here as you can see below.
We had a very relaxed reception at this business. The soothing music and nice air-conditioning made it a great place to have fun with friends. We spent some good time here before some of the friends started leaving for other engagements. At the end of the day, it was a memorable occasion to learn and to have fun as a group.

I strongly believe that within the Hive ecosystem, we have talented entrepreneurs that could lead the next wave of business building on Hive. While it's fine to convince existing business owners outside of Hive to start accepting HBD, we could get all Hiveans that owns businesses to start accepting HBD - or better yet encourage Hive users to consider running a startup.
One of the Hive friends that attended the meetup was @goodysam. She runs a beauty salon in Aba. So after the meetup, I arranged to come and list her business so she could start accepting HBD. I was able to list the business today. I also mentored here on how to sign up her customers using SpendHBD signup and how to generate QR code for customers to pay in HBD. She was able to learn a lot and hopefully her customers would start paying with HBD from the next business day. I also wish to let our Hive female friends in Aba know that they could go to Goody's Glam and get a good makeover.
If you have brilliant business idea as a Hive user, you could consider running a startup. Distriator.loans would be happy to fund your idea with a loan if you need one. The more businesses we build on Hive, the more usecases we provide for our feeless and fast Blockchain. SpendHBD is leading this revolution and we all are invited to be part of it.
Lets see how many builders we are able to get by the next Hive meetup in my city, Aba.
