Hello food lovers of this amazing aseanhive community! Good evening everyone! Have you tried eating exotic foods? I've tried a lot and today I'm going to show you one of the most expensive and delicious exotic food or street food that you can find everywhere, on the streets, by the seaside, in a stadium, at a park or even on famous restaurants.

Ate (referring to the woman in plain blue t shirt) was the only vendor selling balut in the area. The place is spacious but there's no chairs and tables. We have to eat by standing. But anyways it's fine because we won't take too long here. This one ice box contains 50 pieces of balut and 30 pieces of penoy. The difference between balut and penoy is that balut has 3 kinds the 18,17 and 16 days old egg while penoy is the 13 to 15 days old egg and usually this egg has no chick inside because fertilization fails.

This is the egg looks like, just a boiled egg with the required boiling time. And this is 16 days old so it doesn't have bigger chicks inside.

Just crack it open and you can directly see the chick inside. It has a liquid inside that has really good taste. Then just put salt and so much vinegar and it's ready to eat! One balut costs 30 Philippine Peso. For me it's quite expensive but it's delicious and nutritious so it's worth the price.

This is what the penoy looks like. It's dry and it has no chick or a very very little chick inside. We bought this for our kids. They love eggs so much and also penoy.

This is the flavored vinegar looks like. It has spices inside especially chili. It's a coconut vinegar without the food color. The vendor would prepare lots of individual vinegar because each person could carry one while eating.

Before, while and after we ate, I took pictures of us. This is a perfect place to eat balut, in a dim light place but if there's no moon maybe it's more dimmer.

Thank you so much for reading my blog hivers. I hope you like it. I think the last time I ate this was 15 months ago. Balut has scarce stocks in the island. Vendors have to import from the main island but according to ate it's more expensive and she'll have little profit that's why she only sell if there's available in the island. See you next time! Lovelots!
