Let's be clear: the splinterlands Conclave Arcana presale was a success by any metric. The presale is officially behind us, and over 2.4 billion DEC/Credits were spent, and there was a literal war being had on the leaderboard where it came down to the final seconds. For many, the splinterlands Conclave Arcana presale event felt like a major product launch event, and if you were watching the livestream and following messages on Discord at the time, the energy was undeniable and infectious. With that out of the way, the general sale will kick off in just over a day's time, and the question on everyone's mind will be whether the Conclave Arcana will sell out.
Rebellion vs. Conclave Arcana Presale
Let's take a step back for context. The last major core set, Rebellion, kicked off its presale in October 2023 and moved 44819 out of 500,000 presale packs. Back then, it was the first SPS DAO-backed release, and the momentum was strong. But Conclave Arcana just blew it out of the water in terms of total DEC/Credits spent during presale. To put it plainly, Conclave Arcana brought in over $2.4 million worth of DEC and credits, which shows how strong the community support is for the Conclave Arcana set release.
One of the biggest changes from Rebellion to Conclave Arcana was the four-pack type structure introduced with Conclave Arcana:
- Standard Packs
- Alchemy Packs
- Legendary Packs
- Starter Packs (available post-sale)
This setup offered something for everyone. While many big spenders went hard after Legendary packs for the black foil chances. The Starter Packs ($1) do offer normal players a chance at getting in on the Conclave Arcana action.
What's Next?
We're entering the Conclave Arcana general sale phase now, but the implications go much further than the set going into general sale. The Conclave Arcana set becomes playable, and we finally see how these cards impact the meta in both Modern and Wild leagues. Another big impact is Chaos Legion finally sunsetting from the Modern league and moving into the Wild league.
Let's not sugarcoat it, splinterlands is not a cheap game to get into. Getting a maxed regular foil set for a core release can run into thousands of dollars. Just compare these current values based on splintercards data:
- Rebellion: $7718
- Untamed: $3139
- Riftwatchers: $883
- Dice: $1055
- Chaos Legion (now rotating to Wild): $809
If Conclave Arcana follows this like Rebellion and likely will, we're looking at another $7k+ for a full regular foil set. And that's not counting black foils or gold foil collectors.
Concluding Thoughts
With the Conclave Arcana presale done and the general sale opening in just over a days' time, this could be a set that sets a new shift with splinterlands sets. Also, with over 2.4 billion DEC/Credits spent during the presale event, this isn't just another set; it was a milestone moment for the splinterlands game. The splinterlands team can feel proud of themselves as the Conclave Arcana generated a lot of hype and fomo and saw many big spenders climbing in at the end of the presale to get a chance to make a mark on the leaderboard. For the first time, I am feeling bullish on splinterlands and would like to see this translate to more players joining the game.
