Hello and welcome back to my blog!
We had a Challenge/Event in the Luanti (formerly Minetest) server. You can read about the rules of the challenge from this post. I was excited about this Parkour challenge because it is one of my favourite things to do in Minecraft/Minetest. And I had seen a clip of the route, and it didn't look tough, so I was excited for it. Even though it looks easy sometimes, because of latency or slight lag, you can mess up the timing of your jump and fall to your doom.
I recorded the event, so let's start with a video. It was an almost one-hour video with a lot of extra stuff after the challenge. I won't bore you with all of it. Here is the run from my perspective.
Here's how it all went down
The parkour course was designed high up in the air. To reach it, we had to take a big ladder and then jump onto the platform with either water or lava. Of course, everybody picked water, including me.
I realised that it started a couple of seconds late, so I was behind @rosecane and @bemier, who had a slight edge over me.
Rosecane slowed down after the jump for some reason. I was trying to be fast but also cautious. Surprisingly, @bemier took the lead and did not even stop to look down. It was evident that she was going to win.
And I thought I was good at parkour. She was about to win, but because of her speedy run, she somehow missed the second-to-last jump and fell. I was kind of following her jumps, so for a second, I panicked too. I glanced at the map and saw that Rosecane was nowhere near me. That gave me more confidence and time to jump well. I didn't even notice when he fell. I was not going to look behind to check either.
I completed the last couple of jumps easily, knowing that no one was close to me. I was happy that I won, but at the same time, sad to see how Beril lost at the last moment. This is like watching an athlete who is in the front but has fallen just before the finish line. So close yet so far!
I saw the congratulations signboard, but was still wondering if I had to do something else. It felt a bit too short.
It was fun to complete the challenge, but even more fun to watch people fall. I fell multiple times, too, trying to complete it again and again.
The creator of this challenge, @mathewdaddywah, was asked to do it as well, without using his powers. But he kept failing again and again.
This is what, in a nutshell, was happening.
There were plenty of funny moments. At one point, I was following @mathewdaddywah, and he accidentally set a world record for the highest jump on the server.
The Backwards Challenge
I tried to increase the difficulty of this challenge on my own and performed it going backwards. That was a fun one. I failed it once, but then did it successfully twice in a row. Here is the video.
I like to annoy everyone, and when I was doing it to Mathew, he got so annoyed that he punched me...haha. And the fun part is, even though there was a block behind me, which should protect me from jumping off from the knockback, it didn't work. Somehow, I was flying like a bird with just one punch in the face. (I thought I was stronger than that)
We tried some harder challenges, like jumping to another block with a block over our head. That was quite challenging to pull off. If the timing is incorrect, then you bump your head on the block at the top and fall. I did it once in the second try, and then it took me a long time to do it again.
This showed the challenge could've been even more exciting with tougher obstacles or different blocks. Maybe ice or bouncy slimes, or a bed. That would be something and will not end in a minute. I think it took me longer to climb that long ladder than to complete the jumping part. But even with this simpler version, I had a lot of fun, and the chats were very interesting. Someone fell off the thing for the 20th time in a row while the other punched someone off the final platform (it was me), etc.
We need a lot of rest after this. I am off to sleep on the bed like @shrazi
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...
