We had been looking forward to our trip to Kanyakan River, a peaceful escape where we could unwind, enjoy nature, and let our dogs run free. Everything was set the night before, and we were excited to spend the day outdoors. But when we woke up that morning, our plans were met with gray skies and steady rain.
It would have been easy to cancel, but we decided to push through. We packed up, loaded the dogs into the car, and started the hour and a half journey, hoping the weather would clear up along the way. The roads were quiet, and the trees glistened with raindrops. Our dogs, as always, were full of energy, barking and sniffing at the windows.
As we got closer to Kanyakan, the rain turned into a light mist, and our hopes rose. When we arrived, we were greeted by a peaceful river and a cozy cottage just one step away from the water. It was perfect quiet, green, and close enough to hear the river flowing.
We were thrilled to find a small cottage just one step away from the riverbank. It felt like a hidden gem peaceful, private, and surrounded by nature. The sun peeked out slowly at 8:00 AM, casting a soft golden glow over the landscape. It was the moment we knew we had made the right decision.
We began preparing breakfast right outside the cottage. The smell of garlic sizzling in the pan mixed with the fresh scent of the rain-soaked earth. Cooking with that view made even the simplest meal feel special. While we cooked, the dogs roamed freely. Some ran through the grass, while others had already started playing in the shallow part of the river, splashing and chasing one another joyfully.
After eating, we joined them by the water. Some of us dipped our feet in, enjoying the cool rush of the river. Others lay on picnic mats under the sun, simply soaking in the peaceful surroundings. The dogs, now wet and happily tired, lounged near us or dozed off in the shade.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing, taking photos, sharing stories, and just being present. There was no rush, no noise, and no pressure, just the sound of the river, the warmth of the sun, and the feeling of peace that only nature can give.
Looking back, it’s hard to believe how the day started. That rainy morning seemed like a bad omen, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The weather cleared just in time, and we ended up having a beautiful day one we’ll remember not because it was perfect, but because we embraced it anyway.
Sometimes, the best memories are made when you decide to go, rain or shine.
