Oak Grove Cemetery
Today I will share a few shots of a walk through Oak Grove Cemetery, which is a historic cemetery on Parker Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts. It consists of two parcels, separated by Parker Street, northwest of the city's central business district. The older portion of the cemetery, that south of Parker Street, was established in 1843, while the northern section was acquired and developed between 1870 and 1896. Most of the cemetery is laid out in the then-fashionable rural cemetery style of winding lanes, although the northernmost section has a more open layout, made partly due to complaints about the cluttered nature of the rural cemetery style.
The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014
I took these shots after watching and taking photos of the New Bedford Memorial day Parade, and walked through the Cemetery on my way home, this is the newer side of the cemetery.
Itsd a beautiful and well maintained Cemetery, the staff do a greta job of looking after it, althought my wife who likes to sleep in wished they would strt the work a alittle later inthe morning as the bedroom window looks out over the cemetery.
I'm not sure what this building is I am guesing a Mausoleum, but either way it looks cool I think

Whener i walk through the cemetery I look at the names and dates on the Hedstones and try to imagine how life was for them in their time, well especially in older cemeteries.
