Ok, so… I never thought I would write about this… Nope... Never... But... the last few months my lovely husband has been making me go crazy. Why, you ask?
Let’s go down memory lane for a bit...
My husband was the first one who made an account on Hive (you know what was before Hive, but no point talking about that now 😉). It was March 2018. He created his account and started talking about it, how cool and interesting it was.
Then in May... the first announcement of Splinterlands came! And oh boy... he talked A LOT. Like... really a lot. About how awesome this game could be.
Now, I’m not really a fan of games like that. Never played Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokémon cards like my brother did. But hey, I could understand why people get sucked in.
When he explained that Splinterlands is kinda like that... I got the idea. He was super excited, talking with his friends, showing me how you can draw cards and stuff... Very interesting!
So yeah... he was one of the first people playing this game. I must admit... I didn’t really listen much (sorry not sorry 😂), I had other stuff to do, no time to hear endless stories about games. 😉
Then in July 2018, we made a Hive account for me too. Not really because of Splinterlands... but let’s be honest, a little bit because of it. 😂
He was so sure I would get hooked once the game started, and he wanted to be ready to buy cards with my account too.
I didn’t think much about it... but seeing him so excited always makes me happy. 🥰
I think the official game launch was around October? Correct me if I’m wrong.
And YES... He was in it, fully.
He talked so much with friends about it, and they all started playing... and then I got a little jealous. Like, hey! Talk to me too! I wanna play! 😤😉
He was super excited when I said that!
He explained everything, even bought cards for me.
Slowly, I learned how to play... and I must admit... it was GREAT. 😉
BUT... he forgot one little thing:
If I’m playing seriously, I NEED good cards too!
Not just any cards... THE BEST ones!
Hey, it’s his fault he got me into this! 😂
I started building my team — black cards (Death splinter), and blue cards (Water splinter).
Of course, you also need the Nature ones... and don't forget the Dragons! 🐉
He didn’t complain much. He bought me cards, we played, we talked, we laughed... ❤️
After Beta release, I told him straight:
"Listen, if you don’t want me fighting with you... buy me the cards I WANT. Not what you think is good for me!" 😂
Hello? I want the CHICKEN! 🐔 (Furious Chicken 💥)
I want the CUPS! (my cute names for some cards lol).
It was hard to remember all the names... but one thing was clear:
Lord Arianthus — must-have. 🛡️
Furious Chicken — absolutely yes. 🐔
Later, I started nagging for Black Dragons, Gold Dragons, Lightning Dragons... you know how it goes. 😂😉))
Luckily for him, I only got obsessed with Death, Water, and Dragon splinters.
(Otherwise he would be in REAL trouble.)
Then came the Untamed cards...
Kitty... Zaku... Kralus... OMG.
Good thing they added the card renting system, because yes, he rented me those too! 😇
So I played and played... not every day like him... but I still played.
But over time, life got busier, and I kinda stopped.
Maybe deep inside he was happy,😂 because handling two Splinterlands accounts is a full-time job itself!
At least he could rent my cards or do whatever he wanted with them.
And honestly? After so much time, I needed a little break too.
Now... imagine this:
He’s on conference calls for hours with friends... talking, trading, planning...
Sometimes just by overhearing everything, I felt like I knew more about the game than the actual players 😂😂
When Chaos Legion came out... I got a bit lost. So many new cards... so many names...
I could barely remember the old ones!
But hey, I still supported him! I told him:
"Do whatever you want with my account, BUT...the day will come when I’ll want to play again. And you better be ready!" 😎😉))
So why am I writing this NOW?
Because... in two weeks there’s another big launch coming up.
And for the past week... it's non-stop calls with his friends again! 😂
Seriously... I’m thinking about locking him outside the apartment. 😂
But hey... let him have his fun.
And I learned something important too. 😉
He knows exactly which cards he needs to get me if he wants me back in the game.
I just need a little time to warm up... learn new stuff... and then — WATCH OUT! 😂
And for all the newbies here thinking about playing Splinterlands — here’s a SHORT, EASY guide from me (because if my husband explains it... you will be lost) 😂😂
How to play Splinterlands:
Step 1: Make an account on the Splinterlands website.
Step 2: Get some cards (you get a few to start, but later you can buy or win more!).
Step 3: Join a battle — the game tells you the rules and gives you a "mana cap" (so you can’t just use all your strongest cards at once).
Step 4: Pick your team:
1 Summoner (the boss)
Some Monsters (your fighters)
Step 5: Watch the battle! It plays automatically.
Step 6: Win rewards like glint, SPS, and when you advance to a higher league, you get chests!
Step 7: Keep playing, get better cards, fight stronger players!
