Hello ASEAN Buddies...
Nowadays finding a very comfortable place is not difficult. Social media makes it easy to search for it and as a user you can choose and explore it. It happened to me some time ago when I was looking for a quiet place to write. When off duty, sometimes I like to be in a strange place alone and fiddle with my laptop. At that time, my social media homepage showed a place to work so I was interested in going there. The place was not far, only about 15 minutes by motorbike.
It was the Wisma Bakrie Library.
As usual, when I'm off duty, I usually start my day after lunch. So, instead of using public transportation, I went there using an online taxi. That's because the library I was going to is only open until 5 pm. If I use public transportation, I'm worried that I will arrive at 2 pm, so I will waste a lot of time. So yes, using an online taxi will only save time.
The location of the Wisma Bakrie Public Library is not far, no need to get lost either, because once you arrive in the lobby you will see this library. my assumption, the place that was used as a library was originally a food court or parking lot.
When I entered there I asked the officer, do I have to do something to be able to use the workspace and see the books there? the officer greeted me warmly and said that I have to join as a member first. After writing my biodata for member purposes, the officer said that I was not allowed to bring my backpack, so I only brought my laptop and books. Even tumblers were not allowed in.
Okay.. let's strolling around...
When you enter the room, not only the reception desk that you can see, you can see the puppet statue near the entrance, also a room for worship. There is a set of tables and chairs to fill in the biodata of new members. The room after the receptionist is the library room that you can go through if you have become a member.
This room is left open - it is said that it is often used for painting or language exhibitions, so this place is left empty without furniture and shelves. What stands out is the black and red circular sofa. You can use the sofa if you have found a book that you want to read until finished.
Welcome to the Wisma Bakrie Library. In this library - it is said that you can find any book. Look at the pile of books on this shelf, there is a book category on each shelf. In this section you can find books that will increase your insight into history, especially about figures in the colonial era.
Walking forward from the previous shelves, you can find many large shelves that stand firmly like a giant. On the shelves are also still displaying books with different genres, but as seen, the books on the shelves are old editions.
This library is indeed unique, because in the middle of the room there are only a few workspaces. There are many cubicles for individuals, there is also a large and long table for people to share workspaces—or you can also use that part for small meetings. I dunno, it seems like you can have a meeting there.
At that time, maybe because it was still a weekday, the library was not so crowded. Some people did come, one after another, but it was not like other libraries that were crowded. Indeed, most of the people who stopped by were people who were busy with their laptops, not books—me too. This library really seemed very quiet.
On the one hand, it was good—it wouldn’t be noisy, on the other hand, my opinion was because this library didn’t have any best-selling books lately. After I went around, most of the books were old books. They needed books that were currently viral so that it would attract visitors. Because, this library is already very good in terms of layout and furniture. It would be a shame if not many people stopped by and preserved the library.
Hasta La Vista...
