Hey, how's it going?
I hope you’re having a good week! today I want to show you something new well not exactly new but kind of recent. The new drop from the group I mentioned in the last post is coming and today I want to share the second drop that was made for that occasion, the theme was called "Fragmented Identity" each artist created a piece based on that concept and I still think it was an incredible idea this one was also auctioned on Salvor (Avax) and it’s already over.
The theme was deep really introspective the first two themes really made you think made you look inward the third one shifts a bit it steps away from that more introspective and personal vibe of the first two but even so the next drop is still really interesting in its own way.
I didn’t do a step by step for this one I just focused on drawing and didn’t really save the process exactly but that’s okay no problem I did record a video while I was drawing if you want to see it it should be somewhere on X I don’t remember exactly where because it probably got lost somewhere in there but I’m sure it’s around I also took a few screenshots so I’ll be sharing those little by little.
There’s no fixed style for these posts like last week I’m not really explaining things step by step and I’m not planning to I feel like it’s more natural this way like I said in my last post I’m doing these by voice and not focusing too much on the technical breakdown but you can still follow along and watch with your own shorty paper if you want.
Now about the piece when I started I had a few different ideas like I said it’s a theme that really makes you think makes you dig into your own head it can get very personal or you can just do whatever I decided to make it personal in a way like trying to show a bit of myself to represent my mind a little.
So I ended up drawing this girl and I don’t know maybe it was inspired a bit by the movie Split it reminded me of that somehow like how the mind can have multiple personalities or faces in a way the mind usually has its good places and dark places and there’s a lot going on inside one single head and I think that’s what I wanted to show when I started this drawing.
I did it in Corel Painter as always because I like that freedom it gives me to draw a bit more artistically but in the end I had to switch to Photoshop to finish it up because I had a few issues not with the software itself but with how it was crashing on me a lot while I worked my version is from 2019 kind of old and it doesn’t have autosave like Photoshop does not sure if the 2023 version has it now but yeah I finished the details in Photoshop just to be safe.
I wanted this piece to feel a bit more surrealistic like the ones I usually post on Salvor most of my pieces there are a bit surreal so this one fit perfectly with the theme and with my style
I made a lot of changes as I worked like really a lot I started with a quick black and white sketch just some crazy lines and as I kept going things started to evolve even after I had the base sketch ready when I moved to color I always make changes the idea in the front like the main face you see is kind of a mix of feelings from inside my head it all comes together to form just one thing or one person and that’s all inside me
So when it came time to name the piece I thought about that while I was drawing and the name came to me I think it fits perfectly with what I was trying to say because honestly the mind is made up of so many fragments but all those fragments are part of one whole so you're not just one thing you’re all of them at once
That’s it for today hope you liked it there are a few little details hidden in the piece but I’ll let you find them yourself.
